With twenty-five years’ experience in the automotive service industry as well as 20 years working as a faculty member in higher education, Dr. Dan Warning possesses a unique perspective that connects industry and higher education. Having worked as an automotive service technician and facility manager in the private sector, Dr. Warning knows what employers require from Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs they partner with. Industry knowledge paired with experience in education gives him an in depth understanding of what is necessary to facilitate program success in student completions and student success in the workforce. Dr. Warning has led or participated in college-wide initiatives that include creating an annual program review process used for budgeting and strategic planning, creating a guided pathways advising model to better facilitate student completions and success, and developing a general education assessment process to improve student learning outcomes. Dr. Warning’s strengths include program and curriculum development, virtual learning, curriculum maps, program accreditation, guided pathways and assessment, student recruiting and advising, and employer/faculty engagement.
With 25 years of experience in higher education, Joanne Kantner from MJKA specializes in higher education reform. She has provided technical assistance to numerous federal, state, and local initiatives, including the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act advisory team, the US Department of Education’s NAAL-PIAAC Quantitative Literacy & Numeracy Expert Panel, and various state strategic plans for workforce development, adult education, and developmental education reform.
Kantner previously served as Vice President of Instruction and Chief Academic Officer at Kishwaukee College, providing extensive experience in large scale redesign, grant writing, legislative compliance, and strategic planning. She holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Rockford University and master's and doctoral degrees in Adult and Higher Education from Northern Illinois University, focusing on adult mathematics education. Dr. Kantner is an accomplished researcher with numerous publications and presentations and has received several awards for her contributions to the field.
She is actively involved in professional organizations such as the International Adults Learning Mathematics Forum and the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, and she serves on several state and local arts organization boards in Illinois.
